1986 Suzuki RB50 GAG

$6,000 + ORC

Back in the 80s, the Japanese created the Gag Bike craze. Most crazes come and go, but if anything 40 years later their attraction is larger than ever. Many companies hopped on the Gag Bike trend, most notably Suzuki and Yamaha released scaled-down versions of their bigger bikes. These bikes were often half the size and featured 50 or 80cc engines. What these bikes lacked in size and power they made up for in fun, as evidenced by how they look and ride.

In 1986, the Suzuki RB50 Gag was released. Based on the style of Suzuki’s 50 cm³ grand prix racers, the GAG is the mini version of these famous bikes that packs excitement and a playful spirit into a small body size with an overall length of only 1,540 mm. A square-piped backbone frame is paired with an air-cooled 4-stroke 1-cylinder SOHC engine and a 4-speed manual clutch transmission. One of the most distinctive characteristics of this model is its fully faired-exterior styling. Equipped with genuine racing-inspired features such as a hydraulic disc brake at the front and a single suspension at the rear, the GAG is a mini-sized pleasure bike that can be enjoyed by all types of riders

Though the competition could beat it in most performance aspects, the RB50 is easy to ride and maintain. Unfortunately, the bike was only manufactured for 2 years and is incredibly hard to find new parts for the bike today. Current owners have to get by with custom-made parts or adapting parts from other bikes. It is not uncommon to see owners swapping in parts from the competitors, NSRs and YSRs.
